Official Chester County JailTracker Search
The official Chester County inmate records search is the JailTracker roster linked from the sheriff's website and detention resources. It covers people held at Chester County Detention Center and can include current inmates, released-since options, offender images, booking and release fields, charges, bond fields, cases, holds, and special agency fields when the sheriff publishes them. The roster is free to access and no login was observed in the public shell reviewed during research.
The roster should be read as a county jail record, not a full criminal-history report. It may show arresting agency, booked charges, bond, holds, and release status, but those fields can differ from the formal charges later filed in court. For filed court cases after a jail arrest, use the South Carolina Public Index and the Clerk or Magistrates Court. For a sentenced prisoner who has left county custody, use SCDC instead of the county roster.
Use the Chester County Jail Roster
Start from the Chester County Sheriff's Office site or the direct Chester County JailTracker roster. Search by last name first because spelling variants and aliases can block a match. Add first name only after a broad result set appears. If a current or released option appears, choose the setting that matches the person's likely status.
- Open JailTracker from the sheriff detention or resource link.
- Enter the last name and review possible matches before adding more filters.
- Add first name or use a released filter when the person may have bonded out.
- Open the profile and compare booking date, charges, bond, holds, and release fields.
- Call the Detention Center at 803-581-2602 if the roster does not resolve custody status.
Chester County Roster Search Fields
JailTracker is a browser-based roster. The public client exposes name-search fields, current and released filter logic, offender detail views, image fields, captcha logic, and agency routing for Chester County. Exact labels can vary by screen state, but the captured field inventory supports the following search pattern.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last Name | Text | Unspecified | Best first search for current jail records. |
| First Name | Text | Unspecified | Useful when last-name results are broad. |
| Search Type / Offender filter | Dropdown or radio | Unspecified | Client model includes current and released settings. |
| Captcha Code | Text | Conditional | May appear only if the server requires it. |
| Agency Name | Route parameter | Yes via URL | Chester_County_SC routes the search to the local roster. |
Chester County Inmate Profile Fields
A Chester County inmate profile may show a booking photo, name, booking time, release time, arresting agency, charges, bond, cases, holds, warrant number, court date, and status. The research confirmed these fields in the public JailTracker client model, but a live profile can display only the fields enabled for that record. Treat booked charges as allegations until the court record shows disposition.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Last, first, and middle-name fields for matching the person. |
| Offender image | Booking photo when the agency publishes one. |
| Booking / release dates | Original booking date and final release date fields when shown. |
| Charges | Charge descriptions, status, counts, court type, dates, and case links if configured. |
| Bond | Bond amount, bond type, fine amount, or related release condition. |
| Holds | Agency holds, hold reason, hold date, and expiration fields if public. |
| Identifiers | Jacket number, arrest number, case number, control number, or warrant number. |
When a Chester County Name Is Missing
A missing roster entry is not proof that no arrest occurred. A new detainee may still be in booking, the person's name may be entered differently, the person may be in a city hold before county intake, or release may have happened before the search. The person may also have moved into state, federal, or immigration custody, which the Chester County jail roster does not cover.
Use a fallback chain rather than a single search. Call the Detention Center for custody questions, use South Carolina FOIA for copies of public booking records not posted online, check the South Carolina Public Index for court filings, and search SCDC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink when the case has moved outside county jail custody. No official Chester County Sheriff mobile app with inmate-roster, warrant-search, or booking-photo features was confirmed in the research.
Timing is another common source of confusion. Chester County did not publish a fixed roster update interval or a guaranteed released-record retention window. A same-day arrest may need booking, PIN setup, photo entry, and classification before a public profile is useful. A recent release may still leave court records, bond records, or a FOIA-requestable booking record even after the roster no longer displays the person.
Chester County Jail Facility Contact
The Chester County Detention Center is the local facility for the public roster. It is operated by the Chester County Sheriff's Office Detention Division. The detention page lists Acting Captain Juana Crowder as the jail command contact in the inspected source, and the sheriff bio page names Sheriff Max Dorsey. The address and phone should be used for custody-status routing, visit confirmation, and public-record request direction.

Booking and Phone PIN Setup
The sheriff's phone-access document gives the clearest local booking sequence. After arrest and transport to Chester County Detention Center, booking must be completed before the detainee receives a phone PIN. The PIN is personal to that detainee. After setup, the first call through ICSolutions is free. Holding-cell phones are available around the clock, while pretrial housing phone access can depend on classification and generally runs from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Booking normally includes identity checks, property handling, fingerprints, a booking photo, record creation, classification, and housing assignment, but the official Chester County materials reviewed did not publish a full booking manual. If a person has just been arrested, allow time for intake and system entry before treating a no-result roster search as final.
Bond Information on Chester Records
Bond information may appear in a JailTracker profile if the sheriff publishes it. Chester County's bonding PDF states that Magistrate and Municipal Court judges hold bond hearings twice daily, once in the morning and once in the afternoon, at the discretion of the bonding judge. The Detention Division does not decide when bond will be set. A bondsmen list is posted in Booking and housing units and can be requested at the Detention Division reception window.
| Bond Type | Practical Meaning |
|---|---|
| Cash bond | Money or security paid as set by the judge. |
| Surety bond | A qualified bondsman posts surety under a fee or contract. |
| Recognizance | Release based on a written promise and court conditions. |
| No-bond hold | Ordinary local bond will not release the person because a hold or order controls. |
Chester County Visitation Schedule
Visitation is one of the most locally specific parts of the Chester County inmate records research. All inmates except state inmates must be incarcerated for seven days before visitation. Visitors need valid identification, and children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult who stays. Handbags, briefcases, similar articles, and cell phones are not allowed in the building, with a limited attorney briefcase exception subject to search.

Mail, Money, and Packages
Money orders may be mailed anytime and must be fully completed to the inmate. Money orders are also accepted during visitation. The sheriff rules state that no cash is accepted for pretrial inmates. Cash for sentenced and state inmates may be brought during visitation and given to the Prison Camp Officer, who places it in the account after visitation. The mail PDF was linked by the sheriff, but readable text was not extracted during research, so confirm envelope, book, and photo rules before sending items.

SCDC, VINELink, BOP, and ICE Searches
The county roster covers the Chester County jail phase. Sentenced state prisoners are searched through the SCDC public inmate search, which can show state inmate number, facility, status, offense or sentence information, admission and release fields, and an SCDC photo when public. VINELink South Carolina can provide custody notifications, but it is not a court-record substitute.
Federal sentenced inmates and federal inmates released since 1982 are searched through the BOP inmate locator. Immigration custody is searched through the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. Chester County did not have a BOP, ICE, or SCDC facility located inside the county in the official facility research.
For families, the practical test is custody control. If the person is waiting on local bond or a first appearance, the county jail and local court records are the right path. If the person has been sentenced and transferred, SCDC becomes the main locator. If the case is federal, the county roster may show only a temporary local hold, if it shows anything at all.
